Heroic Invaders

In Heroic Invaders you are the evil dark lord in their lair. A bunch of heroes have decided to take you out and will enter your domain to do so. Like any good villain your goal is to survive by eliminating the heroes. 

This could be considered a tower-defense game. Heroes enter the lair, a cave system, and track you down. But you will be able to craft your lair by excavating new tunnels to optimally dispatch the invaders. The game is split into two main parts, the build phase and the play phase. In the build phase you can excavate tunnels to make elaborate paths for the heroes to get lost in. The game is essentially paused in this phase. Once you are done in the build phase, you can end it with TAB and enter the play phase. In the play phase, you will directly control your boss character and the heroes will invade. You can evade them and use your singular attack, the Hell Dome™, which will deal damage to the heroes and eventually eliminate them. Your boss character has a set amount of HP and once it is spent it is game over. The heroes come in waves, and increase in number each time. When the wave is dealt with in the play phase, the game will switch back to the build phase. 

Controls:

• WASD, arrow keys for movement
• ESC for the pause menu and to quit
• TAB to end the build phase and enter the play phase
• SPACE to attack with the Hell Dome in the play phase
• F for a free camera controlled with the direction keys.
• Right Click in the build phase to excavate
• Left Click in the build phase to fill in terrain

Notes

This game is very unfinished. We were able to complete some graphics and implement some systems. There are many more systems and ideas we wanted to implement but ran out of time. 

• Better game structure. There is really no win condition 
• Multiple stages and rounds
• Boulder obstacles in the terrain to affect cave editing
• Build traps and lures for the heroes in build mode
• Have unique AI types for the heroes so they are predictable
• Have different bosses
• Different themes for the graphics
• Have monsters to command to attack the heroes 
• Have music and sound
• Have a title screen and logo and menus
• It's possible to edit the cave to cut off yourself from the heroes, this should not be possible in the final game.
• And much more!
